ERP-Driven Inventory & Logistics Enablement
A fast-growing event production company faced the challenge of scaling its operations nationwide, requiring the replacement of manual inventory and logistics processes with a robust, centralized system. THE STORY
The Challenge
The company’s legacy of spreadsheet-based, small-business practices was no longer sustainable, particularly as the volume and complexity of events and inventory expanded. Manual tracking introduced errors, limited visibility, and hampered ability to respond quickly to seasonal demands. Managing new warehouse sites, asset movement, labeling, and outbound logistics across multiple states demanded standardized, scalable systems and trained staff.
Our Apppoach
Serving as a strategic consulting partner, the project team implemented NetSuite as the centralized ERP, unifying financials, procurement, inventory, and order management. An inventory framework with SKU-level asset tracking was developed, enabling real-time traceability across all locations. The company was supported in selecting and leasing warehouses in four states, with expert guidance on racking investments and floor plan optimization for seamless inbound and outbound operations. Consistent labeling systems and defined stock locations were established company-wide, while seasonal outbound lanes were designed for efficient shipping to eight event sites. Carriers were onboarded and staff trained on best practices in booking, load management, and tracking, and a dedicated asset repair workflow was launched for the off-season.
Our Recommendations
The assessment confirmed that scalable, ERP-driven controls were critical for sustainable growth. Recommendations included standardizing ERP processes for the onboarding of new locations and seasonal peaks, formalizing SKU governance and labeling protocols, establishing carrier onboarding playbooks, and developing regular reviews of warehouse layouts and off-season asset maintenance to maintain operational agility and asset longevity.
The Results
The new framework enabled centralized, auditable inventory management with SKU-level traceability across all locations, resulting in improved space utilization and outbound logistics for seasonal event execution. Enhanced processes reduced booking errors, boosted collaboration between carriers and teams, and created a scalable infrastructure to support continued multi-state expansion. The company established a repeatable playbook for future growth, positioning itself for ongoing success in a fast-paced and competitive market.
